Testing becomes more useful when diarrhea is persistent, severe or bloody, follows particular exposures, or occurs in someone at higher risk of complications. Recent antibiotics, travel, sick contacts and work involving food or vulnerable people can affect the assessment.

Can I Take Medicine to Stop the Diarrhea?
